Build Beautiful Spaces. Do Work You’re Proud Of:
At Ferguson Builders, we believe the best work happens when talented people care about what they’re building, who they’re building it for, and the team they’re building it with.
We’re a growing residential design-build company creating custom homes and renovations throughout the Greenville area. Ferguson Builders has been named to Qualified Remodeler’s Top 500 for three consecutive years and was recognized as one of South Carolina’s 50 Fastest Growing Companies in 2025.
We’re proud of that growth, but our People and Core Values drive us.
Our Core Values:
Teamwork. Excellence. Motivation. Greater Purpose. Ownership.
These aren’t just words on a wall. We hire by them, evaluate by them, recognize people for them, and make decisions based on them. We’re looking for people who communicate well, take ownership, care about others, pursue excellence, keep learning, and bring a motivated, can-do attitude to their work.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Project Planner who understands residential construction, enjoys building relationships, and can help homeowners turn their ideas into well-planned remodeling projects.
This is a client-facing sales and project planning role that combines relationship building, consultative sales, construction knowledge, and financial understanding. You’ll guide homeowners through the process, from their first conversation with Ferguson Builders through design, estimating, contracting, and project handoff.
You’ll work closely with our Design, Estimating, and Production teams to develop projects that align with client expectations, project budgets, and company goals.
You’ll need a strong understanding of residential construction, the ability to read plans and understand project costs, and the confidence to guide clients through important decisions while building trust along the way.
What You’ll Do:
- Qualify and follow up with prospective clients, helping turn leads into well-planned residential projects.
- Meet with homeowners to understand their goals, priorities, budgets, and expectations.
- Guide clients through our sales and project planning process, from initial consultation through design, estimating, contracting, and project handoff.
- Develop accurate project proposals based on scope, specifications, budgets, costs, and required profit margins.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, measurements, and project specifications.
- Collaborate with Design, Estimating, and Production to develop projects that are clearly defined, accurately priced, and ready for execution.
- Clearly communicate project scope, pricing, timelines, and expectations to clients.
- Maintain consistent communication with homeowners and internal teams throughout the process.
- Build lasting relationships with clients, trade partners, and referral sources.
- Participate in sales meetings, networking events, trade shows, and other business development activities.
- Manage your sales pipeline, follow through on opportunities, and work toward achieving and exceeding sales goals.
- Take ownership of the client experience and help create a smooth transition from Sales to Production.
You May Be a Great Fit Here If:
- You genuinely enjoy working with people and helping them bring their ideas to life.
- You’re comfortable leading conversations, asking thoughtful questions, and guiding clients through decisions.
- You understand that successful sales are built on trust, communication, and follow-through.
- You enjoy both the relationship side of sales and the technical details of residential construction.
- You can balance what a client wants with what’s realistic for their budget and project.
- You’re organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple clients and projects at different stages.
- You take ownership, follow through on commitments, and don’t need repeated reminders.
- You’re motivated by goals and enjoy seeing your efforts turn into successful projects.
- Teamwork, Excellence, Motivation, Greater Purpose, and Ownership genuinely reflect how you work.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong understanding of residential construction and remodeling.
- 6+ years of sales experience preferred.
- Experience with consultative sales, client relationships, and customer relationship management.
- Ability to read and understand architectural plans, construction drawings, measurements, and project specifications.
- Strong mathematical skills, including calculating area, volume, quantities, project costs, budgets, and profit margins.
- Comfortable discussing pricing, budgets, costs, and financial details with clients.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Design, Estimating, and Production teams.
- Comfortable using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and learning new technology.
- Experience with construction project management software preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to travel locally for client appointments, vendor meetings, and jobsite visits.
- Ability to work in residential jobsite environments, including standing, walking, climbing, crouching, and carrying materials as needed.
Benefits:
- 401(k) Match: 100% of the first 3% you contribute and 50% of the next 2%, for a maximum company match of 4%.
- Health Benefit through QSEHRA.
